Google Android version 4.0 will be named ice cream. But we are still in 2.2 mode and next major version 3.0 is named gingerbread.
Google has always named its Android releases after desserts.
We will see 3.0 end of this year and ice cream in winter 2011.
The really impressive part is how google is diligent in their long term roadmap and many times they keep their rollout very close to their roadmap defined 12 or 18 months earlier.
The mobile OS' creator has refused to comment beyond acknowledging Gingerbread and Honeycomb, but Forbes noted that Brown would have privileged access to Google's long-term roadmap. He would need to know which features Google wants to implement and what processors would support them. None of Ice Cream's features have been unveiled so far.
